Winter
Winters in New England are unpredictable and beautiful no matter what the weather conditions are. My apologies for the delay in posting on my blog page in the past year. I have been working on a project that is a bit time consuming.
I enjoy posting pictures of different things that inspire me to write on my website. Photography is my favorite hobby and passion alongside the art of writing. Life through the lens is fun, but also a welcome opportunity to explore and take time to stop the hustle and bustle of life. Either by aspiring to snap the next picture of the day or simply by checking out some photos from the past, the images tell a story. After a few busy days, I relaxed by viewing my photos.
A few weeks ago, a cold front rolled in with endless wind gusts. Creating a new coastal landscape of ice and sea smoke across the bay. The temperature was below -7 degrees and the wind gusts were up to about 50 miles per hour. I bundled up and braved the cold weather to walk to the waterfront. The pictures were taken the day before the storm, in addition to during and after the storm.
The ebb and flow of the ocean can be complex but parallel to life in so many ways. Storms can cause severe damage, and the tides can sweep away a swimmer in a second. The balance is that a beautiful sunset on the bay in Rhode Island is full of color and the landscapes provide the perfect contrast. Colors fill many homes as the sun sets and Mother Nature paints the skies. This time of year the days become longer and hints of spring are popping up all over the place, with snow predicted for next week. New Englanders take the approach of checking the weather and then heading to the closet to either get a T-shirt or a sweater.
People will come into your lives and some will stay forever while others will burn you alive in a millisecond. The ocean will cool you off on a hot summer day and in winter the ocean breeze can encase you in ice. The inner circle of family and friends should be full of those who wish you love, happiness, and success. A person who chooses to gossip about others or simply exists in a world of drama and negativity will drain your energy like a vampire. I have chosen quality over quantity and hope that you are able to do the same.
Life’s journey will be full of love and lessons, joy and pain, laughter and tears, and it is your job to hold on for the ride. I find happiness in each day by waking up with a grateful heart and a positive outlook. The path without great love is a lonely dark road to travel through. A life filled with love and kindness is bound by those who have been there for the darkest times sharing their light with you. Be the light for others when they fear all others have been lost, but ask nothing in return. The gift of your light, love, and grace shall not come with a price but simply from your heart.
To quote a wise woman, “Get up early, go to bed late, and do many things in between!”
